Paranoia Agent Volume 2

Just finished watching Paranoia Agent Vol 2. and it is captivating. PA is directed by Satoshi Kon, who also directed Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers. All of his movies never offer fanservice, aliens, or huge explosions. Just the most evil monster in the world, ourselves.

The story in PA follows two cops that have been assigned to solve a case involving a rash of assaults on seemingly unrelated people. As they dig deeper into the mystery they find that the victims are all under extreme stress of one form or another and were having issues dealing with them.

The movie is a very introspective look at what people hold dear to their hearts and how they react when those ideas are threatened. Everyone is under stress of some fashion or another, but we never really let other people know what we are feeling. Only when we are alone, either in reality or in our mind, do we truly show our intent.

PA shows how people deal with this stress, and what will attempt to relieve them of their burden.

And then… *swish*

Onto volume 3, once it arrives from NetFlix.

Ah, Netflix is nice. Even in Alaska.

Well I have resigned up for netflix simply because I was sick of spending $100 a month going to the theater. We would go once a weekend and after food/drink and tickets it ran about $30  per weekend. Total waste if morons in the theater ruins the experience with cell phones or loud kids. So yay for Netflix.

It takes them around 3-4 days to get the movie, and the same to get them back. We are signed up for the four at a time plan, so we just keep rotating them out as we watch them. Some people have been asking if the long lag time between sent/receive bothers me, and honestly it does not. I don’t have time to watch them most of the time as soon as they get in, so a day or two doesn;t matter to me. I just love all the convienice it offers me. It is so nice to not have to worry about dropping them off at a store, or worrying about what to rent next. I have around 50 movies in my queue, so it will be quite awhile before I run out.
I need to upgrade my tv and speakers however to get a better viewing environment. I have the amp and subwoofer however so that part is good to go.
